Friday, 16 May 2025
From its debut on Steam and Epic Games Store to the release of the 0.3 version, the serious game developed by 3D Research has been steadily evolving towards its final version.
Developed as part of the CREAMARE Project, which aims to raise awareness of ocean pollution and marine ecosystems safety, the video game sheds light on the responsibility we have toward our Underwater Cultural Heritage.
CREAMARE: The Game brings to life 9 cultural sites in the Mediterranean Sea, meticulously recreated with 3D photogrammetry. With its realistic and evocative setting, it offers an immersive experience, featuring ancient ruins, shipwrecks and submerged sites – each carrying a unique historical legacy.
The player embarks on a mission to defeat a monster from the future and save the ocean from the environmental threats created by mankind, through challenges and puzzles to solve.
After participating in Gamescom in Cologne, the CREAMARE team attended several events dedicated to the creative and digital world, remarkably underlining the importance of 3D technology in promoting Cultural Heritage.
Last December, the team flew to Volos (Greece) and took part in “Widening the blue horizon”, the conference held by the BCThubs Project. It provided an opportunity to discuss on the methods to protect and manage heritage using new technologies and creative approaches.
Participants also had the opportunity to try the demo version of CREAMARE: The Game for the first time.
During the months of January and February, promotional activities continued, this time focusing on local territory: the Global Game Jam, dedicated to game development and the seminary “Serious games and Cultural Heritage: the CREAMARE case study”, hosted by Talent Garden, in Cosenza.
Moreover, the gaming community was directly involved in the project journey. A focus group was held in Zagreb in January, involving 16 participants in testing the game and providing feedback, and a game testing session, hosted by Battlenet Arena, took place in Thessaloniki (Greece) last February.
After the release of the early access version on Steam, CREAMARE: The Game is now available on Epic Games Store carrying exciting news: the 0.3 version!
The update includes several fixes and improvements, such as new sound effects and graphic settings, but more importantly it unlocks a new site: the Christoforos shipwreck in Skopelos, Greece!
Finally, new narrative elements further enrich the storyline, making the gameplay experience even more engaging!
