Last May 20th, 2025, 3D Research presented Art4Sea and CREAMARE at the IMARS2025 workshop “A Journey Into the Future of Cultural Heritage: Smart systems for monitoring, recovery and sustainable conservation”, in Cosenza.
The event was organized by CHross Lab, a task force operating within the Department of Chemical Sciences and Material Technologies (DSCTM) of CNR (National Council of Research) and focused on the topic “Smart and sustainable strategies for non-invasive diagnostics and the development of materials and technologies useful for the restoration, preventive conservation, and enjoyment of artworks and cultural heritage.”
Participants included professors, restorers, researchers, and other professionals from the creative and cultural fields, including companies involved in the development of non-invasive diagnostics and AIoT and ML technologies.
During the session “Achievements and Challenges in the Protection of Artistic and Cultural Heritage”, Fabio Bruno, President of 3D Research, presented Art4Sea as an important tool for raising awareness and fostering a deeper understanding of our relationship with the ocean, with the aim of promoting education and respect for marine ecosystems.
The key goals of the project were highlighted, foremost among them the collaboration between scientists, artists, and digital technology experts, united by the desire to spark a change in people’s habits.
The second session of the meeting, dedicated to Smart Technologies in Cultural Heritage, featured a presentation by Marco Cozza, CTO of 3D Research, who showcased the CREAMARE project, emphasizing the strength of digital and interactive tools in promoting Underwater Cultural Heritage. The project combines culture and technological innovation to make submerged heritage accessible to an increasingly broad audience.
Additionally, during the workshop, participants had the opportunity to try the demo version of CREAMARE: The Game, the serious game developed within the project, which allows users to explore 9 realistic Mediterranean sites, meticulously reconstructed in 3D.
CREAMARE and Art4Sea, both coordinated by 3D Research, demonstrated once again their dedication towards the enhancement of the value of Submerged Heritage, while drawing attention to global concerns such as the maritime pollution and the threats to ocean health.
