3D Research participated at MaRN’2025 workshop

Thursday, 12 June 2025

On May 8–9, 2025, 3D Research took part in the workshop “MaRN’25 – Malte. Restauro e Normazione”.
A multidisciplinary event dedicated to the regulations governing the use of mortars in structures and artifacts of Cultural Heritage.

The event took place in Pietramontecorvino (Apulia) and was organized by CNR-ISSMC with the sponsorship of UNI – Ente Italiano di Normazione e dell’Ordine degli Ingegneri della Provincia di Foggia. It represented an important occasion to combine high-level technical training and promotion of the local territory.

As a space for dialogue and academic exchange, the event brought together several professionals—including restorers, archaeologists, engineers, and architects—in a discussion on current national and European regulations concerning the mortars used in Historical and Cultural Heritage artifacts

Among the most interesting moments of the workshop was the exchange of ideas among freelancers, companies, public institutions, and the academic world.  It is possible to strengthen synergies, intensify collaborations, and foster a shared vision for heritage conservation only through open and constructive dialogue between these stakeholders. Cooperation among the involved parties is a crucial element in ensuring effective, sustainable, and well-coordinated interventions.

The goal of the workshop was to highlight the importance of technical regulations on the use of mortars and to bridge the gap between research, production, and application—a fundamental step toward improving the quality of interventions and ensuring consistency in the solutions adopted.

In a constantly evolving field, keeping skills up to date is essential for refining methodological approaches.
In this context, 3D Research continues to strengthen its role in the field of restoration and conservation, expanding its scope beyond the activities it has been carrying out for years in support of conservation efforts: advanced surveying, 3D modeling, technical documentation, digital analysis, and multimedia reconstruction.

Participation in events like MaRN’2025 is a source of pride and satisfaction for those, like 3D Research, who work every day at the intersection of technological innovation, heritage protection, and regulatory compliance.
