Dry Visit Xlendi is now available for Android and iOS

Friday, 20 March 2020

We are glad to announce that “Dry Visit – Xlendi Shipwreck” app is available for free on Play Store and App Store. It has been developed in the context of the Horizon 2020 iMareCulture project.

Xlendi shipwreck Dry Visit

The app allows the user diving virtually up to 110 m deep in the water of Xlendi Bay (Gozo Island – Malta) and visiting the homonymous Phoenician shipwreck sunk here during the 7th century B.C.

The underwater explorer can move around the archaeological site through a special underwater vehicle. He can observe the remains and obtain audio and textual information about the findings (mostly trade amphoras) or the marine environment surrounding the shipwreck (flora and fauna).

The user can always keep an eye on the diving depth and time and refer to a map of the archaeological site. Moreover, he can activate the true-color view and observe the shipwreck as it was out of the water.
