Art4Sea and CREAMARE: creativity and science melt at Pensa Tu Festival

From April 15 to 17, the sixth edition of “Pensa Tu Festival” took place at Teatro Auditorium Unical, in Rende, gathering together hundreds of visitors, curious minds, students and science enthusiasts with guided activities designed to foster critical thinking and scientific exploration

During the talkBeyond Disciplines: Between Technology, Science, Creativity, and Culture”, Marco Cozza, CTO at 3D Research, presented CREAMARE and Art4Sea, emphasizing the project’s dedication towards the collaboration of art, creativity, and science, to enhancing awareness of the Mediterranean’s conservation

CREAMARE (Linking creativity, culture and media technologies in the transnational co-production of digital interactive products for the communication of maritime and underwater cultural heritage) promotes transnational collaboration among cultural institutions, researchers, and creatives to develop cutting-edge digital tools, such as serious games, AR/VR experiences, and interactive content, aimed at safeguarding Underwater Cultural Heritage while addressing pollution, climate change, and biodiversity.

In CREAMARE: The Game, developed within the project, players explore nine real Mediterranean archaeological sites, solving puzzles that blend entertainment, ancient history, and marine ecology. Available on Steam and Epic Games Store, it turns environmental commitment into a captivating adventure.

During its three years of activity, Art4Sea (Melting Art, Creativity and Marine Sciences to foster Ocean Literacy in the Mediterranean area) brought together artists, researchers and coastal communities through artist residences on the islands of Gozo, Ustica and Alonissos. These experiences gave birth to immersive works that integrate with marine landscapes, as well as digital tools, including virtual exhibitions and interactive platforms, aimed at raising public awareness of plastic pollution, intensive fishing, and marine ecosystem degradation.

Pensa Tu Festival stands out as an ideal space for sharing ideas that connect different disciplines, that bridge different disciplines, fostering open dialogue between science and creativity. The presence of projects such as CREAMARE and Art4Sea illustrates how art can serve as a tangible tool for transforming complex challenges into inspiring narratives for conservation.
