REEVALUATE
The REEVALUATE project (framework for safe, open, collaborative and inclusive digitisation and management of cultural heritage) is funded by the European Union - Horizon Europe Programme for research and innovation.
The duration of the project is 36 months.
The REEVALUATE project aims to address the challenges of cultural heritage digitisation: digital copies can be used to protect original objects from damage caused by handling, exposure to light and pollution. They can also be used to preserve materials at risk of deterioration or destruction, or from human threats such as uncontrolled tourism development, urbanisation or conflict.
It is a structured approach to managing digitisation efforts responsibly and sustainably, focusing on key issues such as intellectual property, cultural sensitivity and the appropriate use of digital technologies. The working method is designed to be participatory and co-creative, with the active involvement of stakeholders, including cultural institutions, experts in the field and various communities. Furthermore, the proposed initiatives and activities will be adapted to the needs and contexts of the cultural heritage sector in Europe.
REEVALUATE aims to provide practical solutions to the cultural heritage digitisation process through the realisation of concrete use cases, demonstrating the importance of managing digital copies of cultural artefacts and their re-use in the fashion, gaming, advertising and tourism industries.
To achieve this objective, the project involves a consortium of 16 high-level partners from 7 countries, bringing together key players in the European cultural heritage and digitisation sectors. The expertise of these partners ranges from artificial intelligence to video production, from the fashion industry to the tourism and culture sectors, with experts and technicians in advertising, research and IT.
